2degrees appoints new Chief Technology Officer
2degrees today announced the appointment of Mike Davies as its new Chief Technology Officer.
Mike brings more than 30 years experience in the mobile telecommunications industry having previously worked for IBM, Fujitsu, Vodafone New Zealand and the Vodafone Group Technology team in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Most recently, Mike has been with Alcatel-Lucent where he was the Head of Services for New Zealand, of late he has worked on a number of key initiatives within the Asia Pacific region.
2degrees Chief Executive Eric Hertz says Mike brings extensive network development, operations and IT experience that will complement the company’s growth strategy.
“The telecommunications industry is changing rapidly and Mike’s global experience will provide valuable insight and leadership as we continue to expand our national mobile network, technology capabilities and new products for our growing customer base.”
Mr Hertz says Mike’s appointment also marks a significant ‘changing of the guard’ for 2degrees.
“Mike replaces our current CTO - Mike Goss - who is retiring at the end of the year. Mike has been with 2degrees for the past four years and has spearheaded the build of the company’s 2G and 3G networks. He has done an outstanding job and leaves the company, and our network infrastructure, in great shape going forward.”
Mike begins his role at 2degrees on December 10.
