2degrees launches into broadband market today
2degrees officially enters the broadband market today with the launch of its first consumer plans.
Two residential broadband plans are now available – 80Gb for $69 and an unlimited plan for $89. New and existing 2degrees Pay Monthly mobile customers will also receive a $10 discount on a bundled package.
2degrees has also partnered with Sky NEON to give customers unlimited access to content for the first six months.
A number of optional services are also available – fibre customers can super-charge their speeds from $10 and all customers can bundle their home phone with unlimited New Zealand and Australian landline calls from $15 per month.
2degrees CEO Stewart Sherriff says 2degrees can now offer customers the full communications service they have been waiting for.
“Today we see one of our key strategic goals come to fruition - providing both mobile and broadband services to our customers. Becoming a full service provider is something our customers have been asking us for - particularly as Kiwis continue to embrace more data intensive lifestyles and move to UFB fibre services,” he says.
“2degrees’ purchase of Snap earlier this year has allowed us to accelerate our entry in to the broadband market using Snap’s incredible national network infrastructure. With residential and enterprise customers now able to access 2degrees broadband, and business customers shortly, we are now well positioned to compete in all segments of the market to support our customers’ growing digital needs.”
Mr Sherriff says it’s almost six years since 2degrees changed the way New Zealanders think about mobile and he says it intends to do the same with Broadband.
“Kiwis have told us the broadband market is too complex – there are so many different plans to choose from, it’s hard to navigate through the jargon and actually work out what is right for them. They have also told us they want a reliable connection, quality customer service and, most importantly, simple pricing and plans. From today, we deliver just that and make the choice and process simple for our customers.”
Mr Sherriff says announcing a partnership with Sky NEON is also a major coup for the company.
“In a world where content is king, we’re excited to partner with Sky NEON, a premium content provider which will see our customers get unlimited access to a world of leading movies and TV on demand – and it’s all on us for the first six months.”
NEON General Manager Dave Joyce said he is stoked about the partnership with 2degrees as it makes it easier than ever for more Kiwis to escape & enjoy great films and TV. Combining that with 2degrees’ broadband offering meant customers are getting a fantastic value offering.
“Whether 2degrees customers are fans of great drama like Game of Thrones, blockbuster movies such as Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy or looking for some fun escapism in the form of The Only Way is Essex, they’ll find there’s something for all tastes on NEON.”
Mr Sherriff says another key feature of 2degrees’ broadband is ‘best connection’.
“We will always ensure customers are on the best possible available connection to their home – even fibre, for no extra cost. And if a customer is already with 2degrees broadband and a better connection becomes available, we’ll let them know and offer them an update for free.”
