2degrees launches Twitter via SMS service

2degrees today announced its customers can now tweet to their hearts content via SMS.

Product Innovation Manager Bruno Espezzano says the service is now available to all 2degrees customers who want to use Twitter from their mobiles without having to use any of their data or an App.

“Our customers are pretty savvy when it comes to the use of technology and social media and we’re pleased we can now provide them with another outlet to stay connected to the online world.”

Customers can now send a tweet by texting it to 8987¹. The service means customers can also follow people, receive SMS notifications for certain accounts and access many other functions normally used on Twitter.

Mr Espezzano says the service will also be helpful for key community organisations that need to keep large audiences up to date.

“This service will now allow organisations, such as Civil Defence and schools to keep people up to date on important news and announcements.”
