2degrees recognised for Excellence in Business
2degrees was last night honoured for its customer-centric approach to business at the ‘2012 AUT Excellence in Business Support Awards.’
The company took out the ‘Idealog Large Business $50million - $200million’ category despite stiff competition from other finalists Kordia Networks and Minter Ellison Rudd Watts.
In just three years, 2degrees has won the support of over 1,000,000 customers (21% of the mobile device market), achieved 97% coverage of ‘the places that kiwis live and work’, introduced a number of ground-breaking new products, set up over 35 stores nationwide and grown to over 750 employees from 40 different nationalities.
CEO Eric Hertz says he is delighted the team has been recognised for its achievements.
“Our success has always hinged on being unconventional and keeping the customer at the heart of everything we do. We are constantly challenging ourselves to give New Zealanders real value, more fairness and better choice – and people have responded to that,” he says.
“Our success has clearly shown kiwis were ready for real competition and they appreciate the fairness we have brought to the market. We will continue to focus on providing our customers with the best value for money.”
Since entering the market, 2degrees has introduced a range of products which has changed the way people use their mobile. This includes smart business plans (enabling customers to better control their costs at home and overseas); closed user groups across all plans (including calls, texts and data); long-life mobile data bundles; and shared data with other devices (such as iPads). Customers can also ‘carry over’ their minutes each month; and pay on public transport using Touch2Pay on their phone in selected areas.
