Free Calling & Text to NZ and Australian numbers for all 2degrees mobile customers

Over the last few days 2degrees customers have had a tough time trying to contact us and top up their mobile accounts following an internal systems upgrade earlier this week.

We still have some issues to sort out, and while we do so, we want to give our mobile customers a break.

From 6am today to 6am Monday standard calls and texts from 2degrees mobiles to New Zealand and Australian mobiles and landlines are free*. They won’t be charged to our customers’ pay monthly accounts or be deducted from their prepay balances.

2degrees CEO Stewart Sherriff says the team at 2degrees is very disappointed that the internal systems upgrade has been so hard on customers.

“We’ve been doing everything we can to sort issues and I know how frustrating it has been for customers who haven’t been able to get hold of us so they can top up or buy value packs. By making mobile calls and texts to New Zealand and Australia free today, we’re saying we’re sorry for the hassle this has caused and thanks for bearing with us,” says Mr Sherriff.

The 2degrees internal systems upgrade took place earlier this week, but since its completion 2degrees customers have faced long wait times when calling customer care and difficulties using the 2degrees App, with congestion also impacting our IVR system and website.

The 2degrees mobile network was not impacted – it has been fully operational for voice, texts and data use and our broadband network has also been unaffected.

As we sort these issues, customers can top up online at http://www.2dm.co.nz/topup, in one of our stores by E-Top-Up or by voucher texting the voucher code to 201 or by dialing *100*2# and reply with the voucher number. You can still buy a value pack by texting the pack name to 233. To get your balance dial *100*1#

We’ll update our website and Facebook page with news as it happens.

(*The period for free calling and texting is 6am Sunday February 26 to 6am Monday February 27. Calls to 0900 or other premium line services and destinations other than New Zealand and Australia will be charged at standard rates).
