What is a fibre speed upgrade?
We’re working with your Local Fibre Company to upgrade the download and upload speeds of our Interconnect Plans.
Who’s eligible for the free fibre speed upgrade?
If you’re in a Chorus, Enable, or Tautahi First Fibre area and on one of the plans shown below you’ll be eligible for free fibre speed boost.
- New customers who join 2degrees from 1st December 2022 on an Interconnect plan will automatically receive the upgraded speed.
- Existing customers on eligible plans will automatically have their fibre download and upload speeds upgraded, and we’ll send an email to confirm the upgrade has been completed.
Eligible plans for a speed upgrade:

Will I have to pay for the fibre speed upgrade?
No, you don’t have to pay anything for the upgrade – it’s on us and there’s no change to your monthly price.
Is there anything I need to do to get the fibre speed upgrade?
No, you don’t need to do a thing. If you’re eligible for a fibre speed upgrade, we will automatically upgrade your download and upload speeds.
Why an I not getting the speeds you say I should be getting?
The speed you experience at any given time depends on several factors. These can include your LAN bandwidth, congestion, and equipment type, the geographical spread of your WAN, and any network protocols or Quality of Service settings or attributes.
