Shared Data Terms & Conditions
- These specific terms and conditions apply in addition to the 2degrees Pay Monthly Terms and Conditions and Business Terms and Conditions (as applicable), and any other specific terms and conditions applicable to a Plan or Account made available by 2degrees and published on its website (together, the Applicable Terms and Conditions).
- These specific terms and conditions will prevail in the event of any inconsistency between these terms and conditions and any Applicable Terms and Conditions.
- Unless stated otherwise, words and phrases in these specific terms and conditions have the same meaning given to them in the Applicable Terms and Conditions.
- Any customers on the 2degrees Pool Plan are not eligible to purchase [Data Packs/use Family Share/use Data Sharing.
“Shared Data Service” means the service that allows data entitlements under any Plan made available by 2degrees (Parent Plan) to be shared with up to 5 additional devices that use a 2degrees SIM card to connect to the 2degrees Network (Linked Plan).
“You” means the Account Owner of the Account in relation to which the Shared Data Service has been activated in relation to a Parent Plan.
- For the avoidance of doubt, the Shared Data Service cannot be activated on a Prepay Account.
- A Plan can be activated for the Shared Data Service as follows:
- For customers on any Pay Monthly Plan (including a retired Pay Monthly Plan):
- By sending an SMS from the device associated with the Plan on which you wish to share your data entitlements (this will be your Parent Plan) and include in the text the Mobile Phone Number of the device you wish to enable for sharing (this will be a Linked Plans).
- The SMS should be sent to 747 and be in the format “Share <Linked Plan Mobile Phone Number>”.
- For customers on any Plan associated with a Business Account (including a retired 2degrees Business Plan):
- Only the Account Holder can activate the Shared Data Service on any Plan associated with a Business Account.
- Where the Share Data Service is to be activated on the Account Holder’s Plan, the Account Holder should send an SMS from the device associated with their Plan (which will be a Parent Plan) including the Mobile Phone Number of the device to be enabled for sharing (this will be a Linked Plan).
- The SMS should be sent to 747 and be in the format “Share <Linked Plan Mobile Phone Number>”.
- Where the Shared Data Service is to be activated on a Team Member’s Plan who is not the Account Holder, then the Account Holder should send an SMS from the device associated with the Account Holder’s Plan and include in the text the Mobile Phone Number of the Team Member’s Plan (the Team Member’s Plan will be the Parent Plan) followed by the Mobile Phone Number of the device you wish to enable for sharing (this will be a Linked Plan).
- The SMS should be sent to 747 and be in the format “Share <Team Member’s Mobile Number> <Linked Plan Mobile Phone Number>”.
(each SMS being a Data Sharing Request)
- For customers on any Pay Monthly Plan (including a retired Pay Monthly Plan):
- The Shared Data Service will be activated under the applicable Parent Plan from the date that the Data Sharing Request is received and processed by 2degrees. 2degrees will use reasonable endeavours to process a Data Sharing Request within 24 hours. 2degrees may refuse in its discretion to activate the Shared Data Service in relation to any Plan.
- A maximum of five (5) Linked Accounts may be activated in relation to any individual Parent Plan.
- We will try and send you a notification that the Shared Data Service has been successfully activated, and you do not hold us liable if you do not receive this notification.
- Your Data Sharing Charges will be billed on each Billing Date following the date of successful activation of each Linked Plan. The Data Sharing Charges will be pro-rated from the date of each successful activation of a Linked Plan until the following Billing Date.
- If a Linked Plan is activated on your Billing Date, then the Data Sharing Charges in respect of that Linked Plan will be billed on the following Billing Date.
- Once a Linked Plan is successfully activated under a Parent Plan, that Linked Plan will be able to use all of the data entitlements available under the applicable Parent Plan, including any Plan data entitlements and Value Pack data entitlements (the Shared Data). If all Shared Data entitlements have been used up during the Parent Plan’s Billing month, then the Linked Plan will not be able to continue to use data services until either:
- a new Value Pack is purchased under the Parent Plan; or
- a new allocation of Plan data is made to the Parent Plan on its Billing Date; or
- a new Value Pack is liurchased under the Linked Plan; or
- Shared Data Services are terminated in respect of that Linked Plan in accordance with clause 18.
- Prior to using the Shared Data of the Parent Plan, the Linked Plan(s) will first use up any Value Pack, Plan or Bonus data entitlements applicable to the Linked Plan.
- Shared Data available under the Parent Plan will be used by the Linked Plan(s) in the same order data is consumed by the Parent Plan, as follows:
- any applicable Zone Data Pack data entitlements, when the device associated with the Linked Plan is in a2degrees Zone;
- any applicable NZ Data Pack data entitlements, when the device associated with the Linked Plan is outside of a 2degrees Zone;
- Plan data entitlement;
- any applicable Bonus Data entitlement; and
- out of bundle data usage at our standard rate.
- If a device associated with a Linked Plan is not located in New Zealand that Linked Plan will not be able to use the Shared Data of the Parent Plan.
- If a device associated with a Parent Plan is located outside New Zealand, all activated Linked Plans within New Zealand will continue to be able to access Shared Data.
- You will be responsible and will be liable to us for all charges incurred by a Linked Plan, subject to any Credit Limit applicable to the relevant Parent Plan. Once any Credit Limit in respect of a Parent Plan is reached, the related Linked Plan(s) will no longer be able to use Shared Data.
- The Applicable Terms and Conditions, including any Bonus rewards and Value Pack terms and conditions, and such other relevant terms and conditions as published by 2degrees from time to time that apply to the use of data entitlements under any Parent Plan will apply to the use of Shared Data by a Linked Plan.
- A request that the Shared Data Service be terminated in respect of a Linked Plan(s) can be made at any time by you or any Linked Plan’s Account Owner. To remove a Linked Plan from a Parent Plan:
- For customers on any Pay Monthly Plan (including a retired Pay Monthly Plan):
- Send an SMS from the device associated with the Parent Plan or Linked Plan (as applicable) and include in the text the Mobile Phone Number of the Linked Plan that is to be terminated.
- The SMS should be sent to 747 and be in the format “Stop <Linked Plan Mobile Phone Number>”.
- For customers on any Plan associated with a Business Account (including a retired 2degrees Business Plan):
- Linked Plan(s) can be terminated by the Team Member or the Account Holder.
- If a Team Member or the Account Holder is terminating their Linked Plan’s connection to a Parent Plan, or a Linked Plan connected to the Team Member’s/Account Holder’s Plan (being the Parent Plan), that Team Member or Account Holder (as applicable) needs to send an SMS from the device associated with the Team Member’s/Account Holder’s Plan (being a Linked Plan or a Parent Plan, as applicable) including the Mobile Phone Number of the Linked Plan that is to be terminated.
- The SMS should be sent to 747 and be in the format “Stop <Linked Plan Mobile Phone Number>”.
- In addition, the Account Holder can terminate a Team Member’s Linked Plan’s connection to any Parent Plan, or any Linked Plan connected to the Team Member’s Plan (being the Parent Plan), by sending an SMS from the device associated with the Account Holder’s Plan including the Mobile Phone Number of the Parent Plan and the Mobile Phone Number of the Linked Plan.
- The SMS should be sent to 747 and be in the format “Stop <Parent Plan Mobile Phone Number> <Linked Plan Mobile Phone Number>”.
- For customers on a Prepay Account:
- An Account Owner of a 2degrees Prepay Account that is Linked Plan, can terminate their connection to a Parent Plan at any time by sending the 2degrees designated SMS from the device associated with their Prepay Account.
- For customers on any Pay Monthly Plan (including a retired Pay Monthly Plan):
- The termination of a Linked Plan will be effective on the Billing Date following the date the termination request is received and processed by 2degrees. If a termination request is processed on your Billing Date, then the removal of that Linked Plan will be effective on the following Billing Date. You remain liable to pay all Data Sharing Charges in respect a Linked Plan up to the date the Linked Plan ceases to be a Linked Plan.

For the avoidance of doubt if the SIM associated with a Prepay Plan: does not activate a data session in any four month period; or is not topped-up with Re-Charge Credit in any 12 month period, that Sim will be deactivated, and the Account Holder will need to arrange for a new SIM and Linked Plan to be connected to the Parent Plan.
