Interest Free Mobile Repayment Option Terms and Conditions
- These terms and conditions apply in addition to our Pay Monthly Terms and Conditions, 2degrees Carryover and Unlimited Plans Terms and Conditions from 14 February 2025, Business Terms and Conditions, Business Choice Plan Terms and Conditions, Business Connect Terms and Conditions and any other specific terms and conditions applying to your Plan or Account with 2degrees.
- Defined terms are as follows, except where expressly defined below:
- “Account” means your account with us;
- “Agreement” means this agreement between us and you comprising these Interest Free Mobile Repayment Option Terms and Conditions and any other specific terms and conditions which apply to your Pay Monthly Plan used by you and any 2degrees policies and procedures published by us from time to time on www.2degreesmobile.co.nz;
- “Account Owner” means the 2degrees customer that is responsible for the Account and liable for all charges payable under this Agreement.
- “Plan” means the plan by which certain of the services are made available to you, which includes, but is not limited to, bundles of calling, texting and data and/or content plans (as published by us from time to time on www.2degreesmobile.co.nz); and
- “You” means the Account Owner and “your” has a corresponding meaning.
- If you take up a Mobile Repayment Option (MRO) under a MRO eligible Plan, we will allow you to repay the full price of a MRO eligible mobile device and eligible accessory (if any) in equal monthly instalments on your 2degrees Account over the period of time set out in your MRO application, with no interest charged. Your monthly MRO instalments will depend on the price of the mobile device / accessory and whether you are eligible for any Interest Free savings at the time you sign up to the MRO. Interest Free savings will be subject to the specific terms and conditions for the applicable promotion.
- Your monthly MRO instalments will be added to your bill and will be charged in addition to your Plan fee or any other charges incurred under your 2degrees Account.
- A minimum upfront payment may be required to sign up to the MRO. This amount may vary depending on the MRO eligible mobile device / accessory, and the MRO eligible Plan that you choose, and may be varied by 2degrees from time to time. 2degrees will notify you of the amount of the upfront payment prior to you signing up to MRO.
- 2degrees will advise customers of the available MRO eligible Plans either on its website at www.2degreesmobile.co.nz or at a 2degrees store. Not all Plans or Services offered by 2degrees will be eligible for a MRO.
- MRO will only be available for certain mobile devices and accessories selected by 2degrees. 2degrees reserves the right to change the mobile devices and accessories eligible for MRO at any time.
- MRO is available to both 2degrees Pay Monthly and Business customers. Customers may have one MRO per eligible Plan or, in the case of Business customers, per team member.
- You must repay the monthly MRO instalment over the period of time set out in your MRO application, or we may suspend or cancel your 2degrees Account immediately in accordance with our Pay Monthly Terms and Conditions and Business Terms and Conditions.
- If you terminate your MRO eligible Plan you must immediately pay us the balance outstanding on your MRO (if any).
- If you downgrade your MRO eligible Plan to a MRO non-eligible Plan you must immediately pay us the balance outstanding on your MRO (if any). Whether a Plan is a MRO non-eligible Plan will depend, among other things, on whether your existing MRO eligible mobile device and accessory (if any) can be added to that new Plan. This will at all times be at 2degrees’ discretion.
- If you downgrade your MRO eligible Plan to another MRO eligible Plan, your monthly MRO repayments will be carried over to the new Plan. Interest Free savings will not be carried across to your new eligible Plan, unless stated otherwise.
- The immediate repayment of the balance outstanding on your MRO triggered in accordance with clauses 10 and 11 will be in addition to any plan transfer charges or other charges that may be applicable to your Plan. For the avoidance of doubt the balance outstanding on your MRO will be the price of the eligible mobile device and any accessory (at the time of sign up to the MRO) minus any Interest Free discount you have received up until date of termination, your upfront payment on the MRO and any MRO monthly repayments received by 2degrees. In other words, if you are currently eligible for an Interest Free discount, you are entitled to receive the full Interest Free discount if you remain on the MRO eligible Plan for the entire Interest Free term you signed up to. If you exit that Plan early, the amount you are required to repay would not include any remaining Interest Free discount you would have otherwise received, from that point onwards.
For example: You join 2degrees on an eligible Plan and purchase an iPhone 16 Plus on Interest Free on a 36-month term ($1,799 RRP). You are eligible for a $300 Interest Free discount, which will be applied evenly across your Interest Free term to your account taking the form of a credit against your monthly Interest Free monthly instalments. You choose to pay $299 upfront. This means that:
- Interest Free monthly instalment (RRP $1799 - $299 upfront payment / 36-month term): $41.66
- Interest Free monthly discount ($300 Interest Free discount / 36-month Term: $8.34
- Net Interest Free monthly instalment
($41.66 – 8.34) = $33.32
If you terminate your eligible Plan after 15 months, you will be required to pay the following:
The Interest Free monthly instalment x by the months remaining in the Interest Free term = remaining balance payable
Using the example above, remaining balance payable would be $41.66 x 21 months = $874.86
- A MRO cannot be transferred between customers. If a change of ownership is required, the MRO must be settled in full by the exiting customer prior to transfer being approved by 2degrees.
- If you activate Spend Control on your Plan, or a Plan under your Account, with an associated MRO, the Spend Control will not be applied against your monthly MRO instalments.
- 2degrees reserves the right to review and correct the monthly MRO instalments added to your 2degrees Account. We will notify you prior to correcting any MRO amounts on your account.
- If you take Trade Up on your mobile device and you also have an accessory as part of your MRO and you choose to Trade Up your mobile device after 12 months but before the accessory is fully paid then any outstanding balance on the accessory will be payable immediately.
