Prepay Plans Terms and Conditions - from 24 June 2024
- These specific terms and conditions apply when you purchase our Prepay Plans in addition to the Prepay Terms and Conditions and any other applicable terms and conditions. Capitalised terms not defined in these terms and conditions have the meaning described in the Prepay Terms and Conditions. These terms and conditions apply from 24 June 2024. - The rates and conditions below apply when you use your Mobile Phone (or other device) in NZ only and have subscribed to a Prepay Plan.
- Purchase one of the monthly Prepay Plans in the table below for $8, $13, $19, $25, $35, $45, $60 or $85 a month (incl. GST) (Plan Price) and get:

Prepay Plans can only be purchased on Prepay. Prepay Plans are not available for purchase on any Plan made available by 2degrees on a Pay Monthly or Business Account.
- Prepay Plans are valid for either 1 month or 14 days from the date of purchase as applicable (Validity Period) and will automatically renew each month or 14 days thereafter as applicable (Renewal Date) if there is sufficient Re-charge Credit on your Prepay Account at the time of renewal (e.g. if you purchased your Monthly Prepay Plan on 4 August, it will automatically renew on 4 September and on the 4th day of each month thereafter and if you purchased your Fortnightly Prepay Plan on 4 August, it will automatically renew on 18 August and every 14 days thereafter).
- If you do not have enough Re-charge Credit on your Prepay Account to pay for the renewal of your Prepay Plan on its Renewal Date, the Prepay Plan will not renew and will go on hold for 3 months from the Renewal Date.
- If you top up your Prepay Account with sufficient Re-charge Credit while your Prepay Plan is on hold, the Prepay Plan will automatically renew and future renewals will continue to occur on the date you topped up. This becomes your new Renewal Date. If you do not renew your Prepay Plan within 3 months your Prepay Plan will be cancelled and you will need to purchase a new Prepay Plan if you wish to have it again.
- You can stop your Prepay Plan from renewing any time prior to its Renewal Date or while the Prepay Plan is on hold.
- We will do our best to send you a text before your Renewal Date to remind you to top-up and will also do our best to send you a text if your Prepay Plan does not renew for any reason. We won’t be liable to you if you do not receive this text.
- Unless otherwise stated in these terms and conditions, if your Prepay Plan is cancelled in accordance with clause 7 or clause 8, you will lose all unused minutes and data (including any accrued Carryover Minutes or Carryover Data) and texts at the end of the Prepay Plan’s Validity Period.
- You may purchase as many Prepay Plans as you require at any one time. If you purchase more than one Prepay Plan, the Prepay Plan that expires first will be used first. Only your most recent Prepay Plan will renew on its Renewal Date.
NZ Carryover Data
- Carryover Data can only be used in NZ.
- Provided that you have an active Prepay Plan on your Prepay Account, any Carryover Data that you do not use during the Validity Period of your Prepay Plan will be carried over to the next month on your Prepay Plan’s Renewal Date. Unused Carryover Data can be accrued for up to 12 months and will expire on the day prior to the anniversary of the date when it was first allocated (Carryover Period), provided that during the Carryover Period you have an active Prepay Plan on your Prepay Account at all times.
- If you cancel your Prepay Plan or your Prepay Plan does not renew, then you will lose any accrued Carryover Data available on your Prepay Account at the end of the Prepay Plan’s Validity Period. If your Prepay Plan is on hold in accordance with clause 7, you will not be able to use any accrued Carryover Data under your Prepay Account until that Prepay Plan is successfully renewed during the hold period.
- Carryover Data that has carried over from the previous month (if any) will always be used before any new allocation of Carryover Data.
- If you consume all your Carryover Data during the Validity Period of your Prepay Plan, you will be charged the out of bundle standard rate per MB in accordance with our Prepay Rates Terms and Conditions until your Prepay Plan renews.
- Data usage per session may be rounded up to the nearest 46.08KB increment. Minimum data usage per session of up to 184.32KB applies.
- The actual data speed you achieve when using any data is dependent on a number of factors, including how far you and your bat-phone are from the nearest cell tower site.
Free Calling to 2degrees Mobiles
- If you have an active Prepay Plan you will receive free calling to standard 2degrees mobiles with your Prepay Plan. Our Fair Use Policy applies to Free Calling to 2degrees Mobiles.
Carryover Minutes
- Carryover Minutes are only valid for voice calls to any standard landline or mobile in New Zealand and Australia. Calls to Norfolk Island, Australian Antarctic Territory, premium rate numbers and satellite phones are excluded.
- Provided that you have an active Prepay Plan on your Prepay Account, any Carryover Minutes that you do not use during the Validity Period of your Prepay Plan will be carried over to the next month on your Prepay Plan’s Renewal Date. Unused Carryover Minutes can be accrued for up to 12 months and will expire on the day prior to the anniversary of the date when they were first allocated (Carryover Period), provided that during the Carryover Period you have one type of Prepay Plan active on your Prepay Account at all times.
- If you cancel your Prepay Plan or your Prepay Plan does not renew, and you have no other active Prepay Plan on your Prepay Account, then you will lose any accrued Carryover Minutes available on your Prepay Account at the end of the Prepay Plan’s Validity Period. If your only remaining Prepay Plan is on hold in accordance with clause 7, you will not be able to use any accrued Carryover Minutes under your Prepay Account until that Prepay Plan is successfully renewed or you purchase another Prepay Plan during the hold period.
- Carryover Minutes that have carried over from the previous month (if any) will always be used before any new allocation of Carryover Minutes.
- If you consume all your Carryover Minutes while you are on a call (and all other minute benefits available to you under your Prepay Account), you will be charged the standard rates for any subsequent calls in accordance with our Prepay Rates Terms and Conditions.
- Just like a “whole pint” from a tight pub with a big head on it, all calls are rounded up to the next whole min.
Unlimited Text
- You will receive Unlimited Texts to any standard New Zealand and Australia mobile number for the Validity Period of each of your applicable active Prepay Plans.
- Unlimited Text cannot be used for MMS or texts to premium rate numbers.
- Our Fair Use Policy applies to Unlimited Text. For the avoidance of doubt, Unlimited Text is only available for person to person use consistent with our estimate of reasonable use of this service (referencing standard and/or estimated customer profiles). We may take action if we consider your use to be in breach of the Fair Use Policy. Please ensure that you have read and understood our Fair Use Policy, which forms part of the Prepay Terms and Conditions and is published by us at 2degreesmobile.co.nz/fairusepolicy.
Unlimited Calls
- You will be charged 0, kore, nada, cent per min rate for all calls to any standard mobile or landline in NZ and Aussie for the Validity Period of each of your applicable active Prepay Plans.
- Unlimited Calls cannot be used to make calls to premium rate numbers (eg 018, or 0900) or satellite phones.
- Our Fair Use Policy applies to Unlimited Calls. Unlimited Calls must be person to person use consistent with our estimate of reasonable use of this service (referencing standard and/or estimated customer profiles). We may take action if we consider your use to be in breach of the Fair Use Policy. Please ensure that you have read and understood our Fair Use Policy, which forms part of our standard Prepay T&Cs and is published by us at www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/fairusepolicy.
Unlimited Prepay Plan
- When you sign up to your Unlimited Prepay Plan any Carryover balances you may have immediately expire and are not available if you move from your Unlimited Prepay Plan to another 2degrees Plan.
Unlimited NZ Data
- You will be charged a 0 cent per MB rate for all data consumed in NZ provided you have an active Unlimited Prepay Plan.
- If you exceed 40GB of Unlimited Prepay Plan data and Data Clock data use during your Unlimited Prepay Plan’s Validity Period your maximum data speeds reduce to 1 Mbps until your next Renewal Date
- Unlimited NZ Data may be used for hotspotting and standard personal use only. You must not use Unlimited NZ Data for machine to machine communications; or in a manner that interferes with our ability to provide quality service to other users; or commercial type activities; or any other similar activity that we consider to be non-standard personal usage (Taking the Mickey). If, acting reasonably (ie like your good old Uncle Scotty and not like your high school deputy principal), we think, you’re Taking the Mickey we may ask you to stop Taking the Mickey. If you ignore us or misuse or interfere with our Network the Service may be slowed, reprioritised, suspended, terminated, or restricted and your Plan could be suspended or terminated immediately with notice.
- Our Fair Use Policy applies to Unlimited NZ Data. Please ensure that you have read and understood this policy (which also forms part of the Prepay Terms and Conditions and is published by us at 2degreesmobile.co.nz/fairusepolicy). We may take action if we consider your use of Unlimited NZ Data breaches the Fair Use Policy.
- We reserve the right to monitor data usage and customer volumes, to ensure customers are complying with our terms of use. Service may be slowed, suspended, terminated, or restricted for: misuse, or interference with our Network. Data usage per session is rounded up to the nearest 46.08KB increment. Minimum data usage per session of 184.32KB applies.
- Your data used balance in the 2degrees app and Your 2degrees is only updated when a data session is ended. Before checking your balance, you should switch your phone to full flight mode to end any open data session and then switch flight mode off and check your used data balance.
Transferring to a Pay Monthly or Business Account
- If you are transferring from a Prepay Account to a Plan or other Service offered by 2degrees on a Pay Monthly or Business Account from time to time, your Prepay Plan will not be transferred and will be cancelled. On the date of transfer:
- you will immediately lose your text entitlement; and
- your current and accrued Carryover Minutes and Carryover Data will be transferred to your Pay Monthly or Business Plan (except the Pay Monthly or Prepay Unlimited plans) and if not used will carry over for up to 12 months, expiring on the day prior to the anniversary date of when they were first allocated.
- Accrued Carryover Minutes and Carryover Data associated with your Plan will always be used before any new allocated Plan minute or data entitlement.
